STSI’s Molecular Autopsy study is featured in The Wall Street Journal

In an interview with Ron Winslow of The Wall Street Journal, Dardie Robinson, a 60-year old paralegal investigator from Oregon shares the poignant story of her family history of sudden cardiac arrest.

Almost two years ago, Robinson’s son Daniel died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 29. He was one of 10 relatives in the Robinson family to die of apparent heart attack at a relatively early age.

Determined to find answers and prevent this from happening again to one of her other children, Robinson reached out to scientists at the Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI). She had heard of the Molecular Autopsy study, an effort to decipher cases of sudden unexplained death in young individuals (45 years or younger) using genetic testing, and was eager to enroll Daniel in the study.
