Highlighted Research Projects

The Scripps Translational Science Institute (STSI) accelerates integration and innovation by emphasizing three dimensions of translation: traditional bench to bedside, bedside to bench and back to bedside, and bedside to the community and the practice of medicine.

Among STSI research programs are the Wellderly Study, to identify the genetic underpinnings of healthy aging, and the Scripps Genomic Health Initiative, to evaluate individuals’ response to direct-to-consumer personalized genomic risk assessments.  These major research initiatives are profiled in these pages.  Brief descriptions of other STSI studies that focus on cancer, diabetes, infectious disease and heart disease soon will be posted.

STSI also sponsors pilot/methodological studies whose potential impact on health care is significant.  To learn about these projects,  please visit: http://stsiweb.org/index.php/funding_initiatives/pilot_grants/
