Support a New Era of Medicine

Research and clinical discovery have been a part of Scripps Health's mission since its founding in 1924. Today, Scripps has between 300 and 350 studies ongoing at any given time. In 2006, Scripps announced the creation of three new programs: the Scripps Genomic Medicine Program, Scripps Translational Science Institute, and Scripps Advanced Clinical Trials. All programs are led by noted cardiologist Eric J. Topol, M.D.

Join us in creating a new world of medicine. Through your philanthropic support of these vital programs, you will help us positively affect the lives of millions of people. You will accelerate understanding of the most fundamental mechanisms of life-threatening diseases and encourage the development of more effective treatment methods. And, you will help assure that many serious health conditions will be a thing of the past for future generations.

Scripps Health has provided significant funding to develop Scripps Genomic Medicine Program and Scripps Translational Science Institute, but your help is vital to our efforts. We are a not-for-profit health care provider and receive no taxpayer subsidies. As private insurers continue to drastically curtail the portion of the cost “not price” they pay for health care, we have to look for additional ways to fund important programs and services. In addition, funding for medical research is at a standstill. In recent years, the National Institutes of Health budgets have been severely cut.

Philanthropic investment is needed to help us transform the practice of medicine. Your financial support is an opportunity to be among a select group of people who can say they are part of a new era of medicine. Your donations provide researchers with advanced equipment and technology for scientific experimentation, support costs inherent to use of hospitals' facilities and laboratory, and help in the development of community outreach materials to educate our community about the importance of research.
