Community Engagement Announces New Book

Community Engagement (CE) convenes researchers and communities they serve to advance science that improves health. The CTSA Community Engagement Key Function Committee (KFC) facilitates engagement efforts among stakeholders through best practices and initiatives including the just-published Principles of Community Engagement (Second Edition), the Fourth Annual National Community Engagement Conference and the Sentinel Network.

Principles of Community Engagement: CoverPrincipals of Community Engagement (Second Edition) was produced by a special task force of the CE KFC in cooperation with others including the NIH, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health Resources and Services Administration, other federal agencies, academic institutions, and community organizations. The book provides public health professionals, health care providers, researchers, and community-based leaders and organizations with both the theoretical framework and practical guidance for engaging partners in projects to benefit community health nationwide. The KFC’s Fourth Annual National Community Engagement Conference, “Using IT to Improve Community Health: How Health Care Reform Supports Innovation,” will take place August 30 – 31 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. The CE KFC annual face-to-face meeting will precede the conference on August 29 at the same location.
